Diamond Step® fabricates and fits aluminium composite panel cladding throughout Abu Dhabi, covering commercial elevations, institutional buildings, canopies, entrance features and column cladding. The panel itself is straightforward: aluminium skins bonded either side of a core. What separates a facade that lasts from one that has to be redone is the core classification and the coating system, and on both we specify to code rather than to price. FR mineral-filled core is our standard on external work, and polyethylene core is not something we will supply for an Abu Dhabi facade.

Abu Dhabi adds a variable that inland emirates do not face to the same degree. Much of the emirate's building stock sits within a few kilometres of open water, and the combination of salt-laden air and near-constant sun is hard on fixings and coatings alike. We specify stainless fixings and marine-appropriate sub-frame detailing on coastal elevations, and we use PVDF-coated panels throughout because polyester simply does not hold its colour in that exposure. Panels are fabricated at our Sharjah workshop and delivered to programme, and we prepare the drawings and documentation needed for municipal and Civil Defence approval so the facade package does not become the item holding up the rest of the build.

Abu Dhabi projects tend to carry more documentation than the equivalent job elsewhere, particularly on institutional and government-linked buildings, so we front-load that work. A typical sequence runs survey, panel setting-out drawings, core and coating specification submitted for consultant sign-off, then fabrication once the schedule is approved. On Corniche and Al Raha Beach elevations we pay particular attention to what is happening behind the panel line, because salt air migrating through an open-joint system will find any unprotected steelwork in the sub-structure. Out at Mussafah and ICAD the brief is usually industrial: large plain elevations, warehouse fascia and plant screening, where panel flatness across a long uninterrupted run matters more than anything decorative.
